Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan

(1934 – 2026)

Founder – Chancellor and Chairman
Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education

Chairman's message

Dr. A.P. Majeed Khan envisioned an institution that would transform lives by providing access to quality higher education grounded in academic excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. At a time when opportunities for advanced learning were limited in many regions, his commitment to educational empowerment laid the foundation for what would evolve into one of the country’s leading centres of higher education.
With strategic foresight and unwavering dedication, he established Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education as a multidisciplinary institution designed to meet the dynamic demands of science, engineering, technology, management, and applied research. His efforts culminated in NICHE attaining Deemed-to-be-University status in 2008—a landmark milestone that significantly accelerated its academic and research growth.
He strongly believed that education must extend beyond classroom instruction to cultivate innovation, critical thinking, and ethical leadership. Under his guidance, the institution strengthened its academic framework, expanded infrastructure, introduced advanced laboratories, and promoted faculty-driven research aligned with national development priorities.
His leadership emphasized continuous improvement, global standards in curriculum design, and strong industry-academia collaboration. By encouraging interdisciplinary programs and the adoption of emerging technologies, he ensured that students were equipped not only with knowledge but also with the practical skills necessary to thrive in a competitive global environment.
Through sustained institutional development, faculty empowerment, and student-centric policies, he fostered a culture of excellence that continues to define the university’s progress. The systems, values, and academic standards he established remain central to NICHE’s ongoing growth and success.
Today, the institution advances with the same vision of inclusive education, research innovation, and societal contribution that he championed throughout his life. His enduring legacy is reflected in every milestone achieved and in every generation of students empowered through education.
